Outdoor Family Sessions

Family photos are so critical- it can be so easy to let time pass, and our beautiful children and partners change and grow, and before we know it a period of time has lapsed and there are no 'nice' photos to represent this period. (Not to mention the psychological boost that family members receive when visually seeing their image hung on the wall-that's all together a separate subject for another day ). Of course we are not lacking in photos- mobile phones and devices certainly make that easy, but have a photo where all family members are included, in focus, in frame, with nice outfits can require a helping hand.

I am based in Orange NSW, and one of the greatest benefits of Orange are the beautiful parks and flora that we have. Not to mention Autumn- my absolutely favourite time of year when the colours along the streets and house merge and flutter their colours from green, gold, peach to ruby. While the weather can be a little cooler (this year is bucking the trend with warmer than usual temperatures) it is worth matching some gorgeous outfits and layers to stay warm, and be snapped amongst natures glory.

When taking children into cooler temperatures outdoors, please do not dress them in spaghetti strap dresses because they are pretty, and then wonder why your princess has no temperament to 'play' for the camera. Working and having my own children, I know that there are three certain things to upset children- hunger ,temperate, and lack of sleep. So ensure your children have recently eaten before a shoot, and dress wisely with layers- use long singlets to cover backs, warm socks, long boots, and vests or scarves when chosen within your preferred colour scheme can really add texture and character to a photo. I do offer studio family photos, which I am grateful to have an indoor space as there are days you simply cannot dress warm enough from the wind, or the rain prevails. However, I will always advise outdoors, as the natural light and colours speak wonders, particularly when mixed with the charm of children! ~Kiki
