Behind the Scenes: Cake Smash

Cake Smashes are a wonderful way to celebrate the milestone of your bub turning One. Whether they cry, laugh, giggle, grunt, run away, or laugh... you can never plan for the reactions of a cake smash; the most out-going child may become an introvert under the studio lights, and the most most timid child may light up at the possibility to splash bubbles....no matter what happens, there are always gorgeous moments to capture and remember. All cake smashes are custom designed around the colour theme/set that you would like, and I am so happy to work with one of my best friends who offers cakes that are co-ordinated to match the set. As you can see, the setting up is the easy part- the shooting part is never a sit down job, but that's why I love what I do. No two sessions are the same, with some children finding it hilarious if I fake sneeze at them, and other children looking at me like I'm a crazy woman if I sing Ba-Ba-Black Sheep to them! (I'm you're resident mummy-photographer trying all the tricks under the sun:) ) Thank you to mum Kelly and daughter Scarlet for being the stars of this film- you may even glimpse big sister wandering around and enjoying some yummy cake too!
